Prediction

Following in the footsteps of the European Union there will be an American Union. The dollar, peso, and Canadian dollar will be replaced by the Bieber featuring the face of guess who? Yes, sadly, you are correct. Justin Bieber having received the use of the White House in his latest record contract will, along with his cabinet of fifteen year old girls officially change the National Anthem to "Never Say Never" making baseball games even more annoying. Can you spell dystopia? He can't.

Thoughts on Spirituality vs. Religion

I believe in a spiritual force, let's call it God, because its easy to spell. Some days I believe more strongly than others. No one can either prove or disprove the existence of God. I feel better on days that I meditate and commune with this force than on days when I don't. I have proven this to myself, again and again, by trial and error. Let's say that God exists. I commune with it, try to do the best I can, it gives me strength and hope to deal with life, and when I die I will have had a relatively happy existence and a positive impact on people whom I know and love. On the other hand suppose God is a delusion, but I operate on the assumption that it exists or there is a possibility that it exists. The outcome is the same; the only difference is that I was wrong. I've been wrong before and I will be wrong again. To me it is a win-win situation. My personal history shows that when I rely solely on myself I usually make the wrong decisions. I differentiate between spirituality and religion. The former is a path for growth and positive change. I believe that the latter is a construct of man that has been perverted to justify atrocious acts and control followers. There are universal truths in all religions, but they are cluttered with dogma, ritual, and fear tactics. I believe there is more to existence than that which is tangible and can be quantified. One can't quantify the infinite.

Now, who wants pie!
